Son of Halle - Handel..... 'Michael Jackson' of the 1700 :-)
After Leipzig, we made a short drive to Halle. The Christmas Market is small and not different from Leipzig. Lots of grill - sausages and game.
How to bear all the bad news from TV? How to gain a quantum of solace in view of all our lying politicians? How to find some private space of comfort to distract from a cheating spouse? Easy: EAT lor! Cook, bake something. Invite your friends for makan and gossip with your readers.

Christmas Market 2011 - Munich
Here is another CHRISTMAS MARKET to add to collection. It's Munich or München in German. Munich city alone draw tourists like bees to honey, all year round - to Oktoberfest for one. In the city centre, never to be missed is the Church/Marienplatz. A stone throw away is the Viktualien Market which is another must see. There is also a display of the 'button in ear' (remember Teddy Bear) Steiff animals. It was almost impossible to shoot any photos due to the crowd - please excuse the lousy shots.

Christmas Bakes
magazines stuffed full of receipes for Christmas
dinner, lunch, breakfast; not forgetting 'after dinner'
morning cocktails to sober up.
Everyone driven into a frenzy of shopping
and baking when December came..
I did not bake much this year as I was away for much of December. Here are my traditional bakes, simple and very much liked by family. The receipes are from a book printed in the early 1900.
Linzertorte - raspbery jam (above)
Black currant jam.
Vanilla crescent- before baking
Vanilla crescent - after baking.

Filled with black currant and apricot jam.
